ACT 1

Section 3:

Select one of the Following to respond to in paragraph of at least 50 words and 2 “Quoted” (Miller Act 1) examples from the Text. Be sure to CITE your Quotes, see the parenthesis in the last sentence.

• Write a paragraph in which you summarize the argument between Proctor and Parris. State your opinion of who is right and who is isn’t.

• Rebecca Nurse is the voice of reason amidst the arguing.  Examine Act 1 and explain at least three ways in which Rebecca attempts to apply reason to the situation.

ACT 2

Short Essay Prompt: As we have just read The Crucible: Act 2, we see that the fear & hysteria in the town has grown exponentially in the less than 10 days since the end of Act 1. Discuss in a well-supported & Cited (Miller Act 2) paragraph (minimum of 100 words) about ONE of the following situations:

Compare & Contrast John Proctor & Elizabeth Proctor’s Relationship at the Beginning of Act 2 versus the End of Act 2, how have they changed?

Analyze Abigail’s position in the town, how was she viewed at the Beginning of Act 1 to how she is viewed by townsfolk in Act 2?

Compare & Contrast Mary Warren’s Demeanor (attitude) from Act 1 to how she is at the Beginning of Act 2 returning from Court?

Analyze the Significance of the Poppet in comparison to the other “evidence” that has been presented in the court so far, how is it different? Is it a valid piece of evidence, why or why not?
