Hello all! Unfortunately I have had to go to NC due to a health incident with my dad’s diabetes that sent him to the ER on Thanksgiving Day. He is ok, I am working through getting him the best possible care before I return to school on Wednesday. It is such a surprise when your parents get to the age where you are taking care of them! 🥹

English 3 Honors

I have been looking forward to our Socratic Seminar Chat over Gatsby, my apologies I am not there. To keep our ball rolling please complete the following items in class Mon (A)/Tues (B) and we will chat Gatsby when I return on Wednesday. 📖😍📖

  2. READ the Socratic Seminar Document Below so you know how the seminar is going to work
  3. READ the Costa’s Level of Questions Document and then:
    • Create 3 Socratic Seminar Questions (1 for each Chapter)
    • Post to the Proper Chapter Post on the DISCUSSION Board (recommend typing them out 1st so there is no “oops I hit enter” issues).
    • FYI: You may work with a friend, be sure to @ their name if you are working as a partnership (no bigger than 2). If your question gets picked for the Seminar, it is Extra Credit! 🙂
  4. HOMEWORK-
    • Read & Annotate Gatsby Ch 4
      • CH 4 Topics
        • Gatsby rumors (new and repeated)
        • Nick’s ride and conversation with Gatsby (including Gatsby’s artifacts)

Journalism 1

To keep the Mid-Term Magazines Rolling, on Monday the following needs to happen:

  1. Create 3 Magazine Publishing Teams-should be 5 people each, mix boys and girls, I trust ya’ll can handle that as it is your mid-term, choose wisely. I need ONE person from the Team to REPLY HERE and let me know the people in the group and the name of the Publication.
  2. As a Team-Create your POLL so that we can post the QRs around school for people to complete them. This should be a NEW creative topic BEYOND what each person created before. A DIFFERENT person should REPLY HERE with the link to the poll.
  3. Review the attachments as a team, discuss positions & article topics. I should have paper copies of these files delivered to you, but if not, the TEAM LEADER, Download the GROUPS & the PLANNING Documents from here, share to your group members AND ME and fill them out. YOU GOT THIS!!

To keep the Mid-Term News Reports Rolling, on Tuesday the following needs to happen:

  1. Decide the Positions for your Team (the Colored sheets are still on the board)
    • EVERYONE is a Reporter, EVERYONE will record a News Story Report
    • For the remaining positions see here: https://www.wikihow.com/Create-a-Newscast
      • Producer=The Organizer, gets everyone to do their stuff
      • Anchors=The 2 that sit at the Big News Desk & Do the Intro and the in between the news stories (like Corey Wire on CNN 10)
      • Camera Person=This is the person that will have enough storage on their phone to be able to record the Anchor Segments
      • Graphics/Design=the person that can put all of the video clips together in iMovie, Canva, or something similar
  2. Write the Individual News Reports-UPLOAD TO TURNITIN in the Tab at the Top here!
