In class we reviewed the details of the Orwell Essay and gave out the 256 Quotes already noted by all of the classes that they can select from to complete this essay. Rough Drafts are due Th/Fri, final copies NO LATER THAN 5/15 @11:59pm to Turnitin.com.
Reminders!
- MLA FORMATTING!!! This includes having a WORKS CITED PG that Cites Animal Farm & 1984
- Title should be Prompt #: Then SOMETHING Creative!
- Intro Paragraph
- Needs general statement addressing the prompt
- Needs 2 sentences summing up the ENTIRE PLOT of Animal Farm & 1984
- Thesis Statements!!! Look at the Essay Planning sheet
- M6ET Body Paragraph structure needed (2 quotes per paragraph, etc)
- Lead in to ALL Quotes
- No “…” in or out of a quote
- Don’t have the beginning of a quote capitalized (you lead into it right? so it doesn’t need a capital letter unless it’s a proper noun)
- Have Seamless Transitions! Take a little of what you were talking about in the previous paragraph to lead you into the next one!
- Should have Active Voice, more details about that HERE
- DO NOT BE VAGUE! (many, things, it, someone…)
- Do NOT
- Have contractions
- Say “to the reader” ANYWHERE!
- Introduce your examples by saying “For example” JUST DO IT!!
