Summer Updates! We did a bit of additional College touring this summer going to the Campuses of Full Sail (more of a tech school) as well as the University of Central Florida (LARGE Campus traditional College). Both have their merits, some thoughts & picts:
Full Sail (Pros):
- Direct training in field Aiden is interested in working (VR World Creation & Gaming)-22 Months TOTAL!
- Great Net Working, many people in the industry come back to teach or talk to students
- Only 2-3 classes per month (like you only do 2-3 that you focus directly on and it is shorter, more like job training)
- Your “books” are more training manuals, not concepts, and you get the computer programs/laptop/supplies as part of your “kit” that you buy and will use after you graduate
- Small Walkable campus, lots of hands on labs to work in
Full Sail (Cons):
- $80,000 Plus Kit (they do take Bright Futures to off-set costs as well as FAFSA & Scholarships)
- Does not have specific on Campus Housing (they do have apartments that they work with, but that would be an additional expense)
- REALLY a self motivated program, you have to advocate and ask questions
Picts from our visit
UCF (Pros)
- Traditional Campus, provides housing (Approx $22,000 per year with Housing/food/tuition/books)
- More well-rounded College Experience (Sports events, etc)
- Great Engineering/Computer Science Program
- Career Center/Fitness Center
- Google Learning Labs/Disney Imagineering Connections
UCF (Cons)
- SAT/ACT Score Requirement
- Not as specified program
- 4-5 year Program
- May have to take generalized courses to fill credit hours
- Not specific tools to use after graduation
Picts from the Tour (It was raining that day so we had to walk around ourselves)
