We are writing this book as though it is a novel, this would be the example for the beginning of CH 2:

“I miss my family; I don’t know when I shall see them again.  As I stare at their picture here in this small, damp, cold berth on this creaking ship, I wonder if we will ever reach the new land.  The porridge they serve keeps us fed, but I miss Nani’s sweet bread and seeing Anya’s delight at covering it with jam.  I look out of my tiny window, so lost in the vast ocean, one of hundreds of travelers looking toward a new beginning and hoping to fulfill the dreams of those we have left behind.  A tiny ship in a vast ocean, carry to hopes and dreams so many.”
