Speech 1

  • Completed
    • Reminders of Missing assignments from 3/31-Students Tagged on Teams post as a Reminder before Progress Reports
    • Starting of Historical Speeches Review with the Final Wrap up here:
      • Historical Speech Analysis Project Final Wrap-up and Presenting Checklist

        Check to make sure you have completed the following:

        • Make sure all the annotations have been completed on the Speech
          • Highlight for:
            • Ethos, Logos, or Pathos
            • Figurative Language (Metaphor, Simile, Allusions, Parallelism, or Repetition)
              • Make sure to have labeled and explained all of the Fig. Lang. (Don’t just label allusion, what is it alluding to?)
            • Have you completed the SOAPSTone Pre-Planning Page? (Remember the Speaker is NEVER the Author)
            • Write out your explanation of how you would have felt as an original Audience Member

        Presentation Structure

        For our in-class presentation of the speeches, it will go like this:

        1. Introduce the Speaker & the Name of the Speech & the When/Where it was spoken
          1. EX: President Ronald Reagan gave the “Challenger” Speech from the Oval Office on TV January 28th, 1986.
          2. Write your Details here:                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                    
        2. Show the video clip or play the audio clip of the 1st 2 pages worth of the Speech
        3. Read the Analysis Paragraph that you wrote on Monday and turned in on Turnitin
        4. Make sure that you tell us how you would have felt if you were watching as an original audience member.
