AP Lang-Day 36 Research Paper Speed Dating!

Today the students did a quick 30 min “Quick Fire” of talking out their Research Papers, starting to think on the different ways in which they will be supporting their topic and thinking of the opposition to what they want in their thesis. This “Speed Dating”, a Think Aloud technique, that should prompt them as to where they need to make changes, where they are lacking in their research and get feedback as to what is not clear in their current argument.  Students often feel overwhelmed at this point in the year, they think they can’t do it and then they just stop and don’t move forward.  We viewed the following TED Talk about “Grit” and how you have to perservere:
