Today the students were able to combine with Mrs. Nesselrode’s class for an introduction on HOW to the read Steinbeck’s East of Eden. This is a wonderful novel, rich in Figurative Language, if the students aren’t paying attention to how Steinbeck crafts the story, then they will miss out on a LOT of the subtext in this American Classic. The students should be completing their per chapter Journaling (just was we did for Scarlet Letter & Frankenstein), Rubric is HERE: East of Eden Chapter Notes in detail. This rubric should be glued into their journals, they may even continue in the same journal for this project. The Reading Shedule Book Mark is HERE: East of Eden Reading Schedule-annotation and SS Bookmark, my apologies to 5 B that the copies were not done yet. Quiz for the novel & Journals are due on the same day, if you have your Journaling for Part 1 completed then Mrs. Nesselrode is offering an after school book talk on 3/29 (the day we get back and BEFORE your 1st test on the novel!)
If for some reason you missed the notes on THEME STATEMENTS they are linked HERE.
