Day 28-Instructional Rotations, Trending News, & Juxtaposition

AP Lang-Today they completed the following Instructional Rotations:

  1. Group 1: News of the Week with the Wall Street Journal, Tracking of the HAND and filling in a Minimum of 3 fingers with a 140 character summary. Then they completed a “Trending Tweet slip” for the class to track what is going on in the News.

  2. img_3653Group 2: Writer’s Workshop with Mrs. Reed, we reviewed their responses to the Al Gore Prompt from the previous class, peer & teacher reviewed. They will be using this analysis of the documentary to help transition into the analysis of print media such as prompts from the AP exam.
  3. Group 3: Book Club, completing the discussion-questions-chapters-5-8-instructional-rotations-half-sheets (attached here), if it was not completed at this rotation IT IS HOMEWORK THAT WILL BE COLLECTED NEXT CLASS.

English 3 Honors-Today they submitted their BWHTW completed Journaling Ch 1-4, then they completed the “Trending Tweets Slips” before lunch, tracking topics that could be on the SAT or ACT Writing Sections. Additionally we connected back to the Summer Reading of Alas, Babylon with a new Documentary Trailer for Command & Control:

Students didn’t realize that this event had happened in the US and it helped to make a Text-to-Self connection back to the novel.


Additionally we viewed the video for the Summer 2017 European Trip to Germany, Switzerland, & Italy, Parent Meeting Monday at 7pm in C107. (click link to view this amazing opportunity!)

AICE GP 8B-Today the students completed the Juxtaposition In class Lit Card and they viewed a portion of Disney’s Robin Hood to look at the Fable Construct versus the telling of the Robin Wood Adventure in TOAFK.
