AP Lang-On Tuesday we started our discussion about Question 1 on the Writing portion of the AP Exam. This question asks that students read 6-7 sources and then SYNTHESIZE (add them to) their own ideas and write a “mini research paper.” The students reviewed my annotated copies of the sources as well as reviewed the prompted page as they will be creating their own synthesis packet as the start to the RESEARCH PAPER for this year! They completed a portion of the planning as a group in class today for the “Cost of College” Essay, we will wrap up this process in class on Thursday.
Additionally, they learned about MLA Citations, a very important College Readiness skill as we expand beyond just what is on the AP Exam. Their binders should have the following in the SYNTHESIS Section:

11/21-1st Individual Synthesis Essay Writing, if you will miss classes next week you MUST come in after school THIS WEEK to complete this 90 min. writing.

English 3 Honors-Today they submitted Vocab HW 3, Quiz will be Thursday. Additionally, reading in of “A Raisin in the Sun” continues (started Act 2 today), make sure to read through ACT 2 for next class as those reading/performing for Enrichment Points should have a FLUID reading for full bonus points.

ENRICHMENT POINTS OPPORTUNITY!! If you purchase a copy of THE GREAT GATSBY (and submit for class library at the end of the reading) your will earn ENRICHMENT POINTS for the 9-weeks! (these can be traded in for low scores on current assignments). Copies of The Great Gatsby must be brought to class NO LATER THAN 12/1-2.
AICE GP 8B-Today was another great day of the AICE In Class Debate! Overall, well researched ( state “accorning to CNN…” not CNN.com), better transitions (I noticed LISTENING happening between opponents), and know what you are saying to have the argument flow (writing out intros is VERY helpful!)
