AP Lang-Today was the Introduction to the Research Paper! Many changes have been made to the old process for this assignment:
- Creation of a Synthesis Question & Source Packet
- This will be the guiding question that the students will be answering for the final research paper.
- Once the students have selected their Topics they MAY NOT BE CHANGED, review the list carefully; research-paper-topics-2016-17-highlighted (the YELLOW Highlighted topics here are the ones I recommend AVOIDING and the AQUA ones have currently been trending in the news, or have resulted in a strong paper, and I high recommend looking into these.)
- There is no longer an Annotated Bibliography, all students will be creating a Source Packet (SEE PG 2 in the FULL DETAILS HERE: research-paper-instructions-with-synthesis-question-2016-17
- Final Word Count has been reduced to 1000-1500 words
Additionally, we reviewed through several sections of the student’s notebooks, please make sure you have the follwoing up to date in your spiral, I’m here after school if you need to look at the in class sample. Current Pages:
Students have also been given the opportunity to REVISE their 1st SYNTHESIS Essays after school with me for additional points as many did not finish them during class last Monday! They have until THIS FRIDAY to see me AFTER SCHOOL ANY DAY THIS WEEK for this revision opportunity! I’m here to help!

English 3 Honors-Today they completed the Vocab 1-3 Review Quiz & the Achieve Level Set. I did check the completion of the “Raisin in the Sun” Vocabulary Packet that they were given time to work on in class last week as well as over the Thanksgiving Break (80pts). MOST WERE INC, grades are falling from what were listed on Progress Reports. Vocabulary is VERY important as it effects not only reading comprehension but also writing scores on the SAT & ACT Tests. Reminder, your vocabulary pages should look like this (definition, quote & pg in the book):

AICE GP-Today they completed the DAY 1 DISTRICT Scrimmage, we will be revising their 1st GP Writing on the computers on Wednesday (to be Peer Reviewed) and then the 2nd part of the Scrimmage on Friday. Make sure you are keeping up with the GOOGLE CALENDAR, details about future assignments are already posted there!
