          • Sample Introduction:

The Roles of Women have been changing and evolving since the beginning of recorded history; from the hunter/gather, to the mother who would educate her children at home, to the society matron who could be the the quiet voice of power over a teacup to generals. Women today have released themselves from the corsets of old, but yet there are still the confines of society’s expectations that while we may venture out into the workforce in any capacity we like-we are still expected to be that nurturer, educator, and ornament to our Families. In reading passages from F. Scott Fitzgerald and Zora Neale Hurston we see that the roles of women have not changed as we still sit in judgment, not only of each other, but of ourselves.

      • Sample Body Paragraph: Modern society likes to think that we have found this great evolution, that we have left the stone age of women in their superficial roles, and yet Gloria in “The Barbie Movie” gives an impassioned speech as to how these trials are not over. In speaking, albeit to a room full of women, she shares that “it is literally impossible to be a woman,” even in the modern world of 2023. We see women still curating their lives, but this time on social media, where there is that expectation that not only will you be successful at your job, but you will have well-adjusted and successful children, a beautiful house, and still be as vibrant as you were in high school. We are reminded that women should “always stand out and always be grateful” even in times of struggle, are we really any better than we were in the past, does time moving forward actually mean growth?
