Sonnet Project Final Wrap-up and Packet Completion Checklist

Check to make sure you have completed the following in your Sonnet Packet:

  • Make sure all # references are your Sonnet not #18
  • Have you put the new art on the front cover of the packet?
  • Is the Sonnet copied in line by line & is in your own words to the right?
  • Have you added in the SOAPSTone? (Remember the Speaker is NEVER the Author)
  • Written out your #theme and explained it in 1-2 sentences
  • Explained the reason that you picked the art on the cover using 2-3 “quoted phrases” (line # they are in) in a paragraph
  • You have MLA Cited your sonnet (updated the # & date in the existing Source), the Art book, and 1 word that you defined to understand it in your sonnet.

If all of these items have been updated, upload your packet to FOCUS NO LATER THAN 11:59 pm TONIGHT!

Make sure that you are practicing for presenting on Wednesday!

Presentation Structure

For our in-class performances of the sonnets, it will go like this:

  1. I will put your Art on the TV
  2. You will introduce your Sonnet by Number
  3. Then you will Perform your sonnet, remembering:
    1. Tell it to us like a story
    2. find the pauses, but keep line connections, talk to the punctuation!
    3. show that you know what your sonnet is talking about
  4. Then you will tell us the following:
    1. In Sonnet #_______, the speaker is a ____________________ who is expressing (talk about the theme) to _______________________(audience) about ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________.

EX: In Sonnet 18 the aging lover is expressing his undying affection for his lady love that he has never gotten to tell her that he loves her, but even as she gets older he will still think she is beautiful.

  1. Tell us why you picked your art.
  2. DONE! 😊
