Today we built on the student’s analysis of their peer’s paragraphs for the Alfred M. Green Essay by annotating the AP Writing Rubric, discerning the difference between a score of 9, 7, and 5 on an AP essay. Students can see that analysis over penmanship wins you the high score and that you always need to address the WHY in an essay versus just WHAT the author wrote. We will be moving on next class to our 1st Rhetorical Analysis FULL Essay (45min). Students need to be discussing not only the Author’s Purpose towards their audience, but also the ways and the whys of how the author crafted their message.
Students also received PG 1 of the World Figures Information Sheet, this is an ongoing assignment, final submission date is 1/5/16. These names/allusions/places help to prepare the students for the diverse possibilities of the ARGUMENT ESSAY on the AP Exam.
