Today we had a series of Instructional Rotations where the students had a chance to catch up on Current Events in their reading of UpFront Magazine (Student Login: MHS01), this is also where the students will be able to review their DEBATE TOPICS as discussed in the 2nd rotation with me. We discussed the persausive-pointcounter-model as well as they selected a Team debate topic at random. Again, they can review the debate in the coinciding issue of UpFront Magazine and complete a T-Chart in regards to the Pros & Cons of each side of the argument. In the final rotations the students had a chance to collaborate on a few thought questions for Chapters 4-6 of Of Mice & Men, 3 these questions should be answered in their journals:
Of Mice & Men Book Club Ch 4
- Why is Curley’s wife nameless?
- Steinbeck spends a great deal of time describing Crooks’ living quarters at the beginning of this section. What does the reader gain through this description?
- At first Crooks is unfriendly to Lennie, but the he invites Lennis to sit. Why does he change?
