AICE Day 29-Welcome to the Debate!

Instructional RotationsToday we had a series of Instructional Rotations where the students had a chance to catch up on Current Events in their reading of UpFront Magazine (Student Login: MHS01), this is also where the students will be able to review their DEBATE TOPICS as discussed in the 2nd rotation with me. We discussed the persausive-pointcounter-model as well as they selected a Team debate topic at random.  Again, they can review the debate in the coinciding issue of UpFront Magazine and complete a T-Chart in regards to the Pros & Cons of each side of the argument.  In the final rotations the students had a chance to collaborate on a few thought questions for Chapters 4-6 of Of Mice & Men, 3 these questions should be answered in their journals:

Of Mice & Men Book Club Ch 4

  1. Why is Curley’s wife nameless?
  2. Steinbeck spends a great deal of time describing Crooks’ living quarters at the beginning of this section. What does the reader gain through this description?
  3. At first Crooks is unfriendly to Lennie, but the he invites Lennis to sit. Why does he change?
  4. Crooks is also very lonely, but how is his loneliness different from the others’?
  5. Why does Crooks make Lennie believe that George will not come back for him?
