In Reviewing student Research Proposals submitted to Turnitin.com I saw consistent issues that we addressed in class, the following is also posted on Teams:

Research Proposal Issues & How to Fix them!

**Check your Document to see if you have any of these Issues**

Basic Needs “How To”
ABC Order Highlight the Citation
Hold Down the Left side of the Touchpad
Drag to the Proper spot
Double Space Hold <Crtl> then “A” then press “2”
12 Pt Rimes New Roman Font Hold <Crtl> then “A” then change the Font to “Times New Roman”
Then change the Font size to 12
Hanging Indent 1)     Be sure that you have the Ruler turned on in your MS Word

a.      Go to the “View” Tab at the Top

b.     Check the Box next to Ruler

2)     Highlight the WHOLE citation!

3)     Slide the “Hang Indent” Up Tringle to the ½ Inch Mark

JUST LIKE THIS!!

Last Name in the Header Double Click at the Top

JUST Change the Name from Smith to Your LAST Name


Research Citations & How to Fix Them

**Check ALL of your Citations to see if you have any of these Issues**

Citation Needs “How to”
Author **Not all Sources have this-That’s ok, leave it blank if the source doesn’t have one
-Authors: Last Name, 1st Name

-Team of Authors: In order the are listed-Only the 1st goes Last, 1st; all the rest go 1st Last

-Group of Authors: Associated Press; be sure to list it in order all together (not flipflop)

“Title of an Article” This MUST be in Quotes, and Quotation Marks only! Nothing else
Root Source After the www but before the / needs to be in italics this is the ONLY part that is a different font style npr.org
Publisher Spell it out, npr.org= National Public Radio, etc.
Publication Date Can be just a year, if there is no year then assume this year
Full URL Needs the WHOLE Website Http: all the way to the end!
Annotation Connect it to the END of your Citation (hit backspace if it’s on a new line)
