To Do List of the Week!

  1. TEXT: View the speech video above to respond to the Speech Discussion Board on TEAMS
  2. WRITING: Post on the Speech Discussion Board as to which speech was the most powerful & why (NOTE: May not use the “I have a Dream” Speech as that was LAST Week)-50 Words MINIMUM
    • State the Name of the President & the Title of the Speech
    • Reference a specific quote from the speech
    • Connect one of the Speech devices we have been studying (Ethos, Logos, Pathos, Allusions, Parallel Structure, Metaphors, Symbolism)
  3. DISCUSSION: Respond back to 2 Classmates in regards to the speech they discussed, what other devices or quotes might you have heard?
  4. VOCABULARY: For the following List of Vocabulary Words you can either
    • Creative Story: Week 6 Vocabulary Creative Story (Change Week # in Title)-Be Sure to BOLD OR HIGHLIGHT the Vocab Words
    • Vocabulary Chart: Vocabulary Log with 10 Slots (Be sure to have ORIGINAL SENTENCES!!)
      • Words of the Week
        • Probes– devices used for exploring, testing, or obtaining something
        • Coordinates– a group of numbers used to indicate position
        • Municipal– relating to a city or town
        • Tactically– carefully planned to gain an advantage
        • Salvaged– rescued or preserved from loss or destruction
        • Traction-grip for giving power to pull something over a surface
        • Happenstance– coincidence
        • Submerged– completely covered; below the surface
        • Condolences– expressions of sympathy to family and friends on the occasion of someone’s death
        • Munitions– military weapons and ammunition
